Leighton's New Best Friend...

is Miss Lisa at daycare.  She also hangs out with two other babies Isabella and Katelyn.  Katelyn is older than Leighton but much smaller because she was a preemie.  She is tiny and always sleeping when I pick Leighton up.  Isabella has tons of hair, more than I did at 3 years old!  I love the small ratio at daycare, it makes me feel better that she is getting more individualized care than the state standard of 1 adult to 5 infants.  There are a few other babies in the older infant room that are sometimes with Leighton in the afternoon when they start to consolidate the babies after some are picked up.  So she gets lot of social time with all her "friends."  She is apparently quite the social butterfly and loves all the activities.

Lisa reports Leighton is trying so hard to roll over and grunts at her attempts.  She babbles and coos a lot too.  They have different activities on different days so she is always trying something new.  Each day at pick up she has been doing something different and has always been happy.  I can tell she is happy there and that means so much to Stu and I.  We love reading her daily scroll to find out what she did at school.  The notes are so positive and helpful.  They always have the sweetest things to say about her attitude and disposition.  She truly is just an easy going, lovable, happy baby.

Since Leighton sleeps 12 hours at night, she really has only been cat napping throughout the day.  Fun fun!  But today she slept for a whole two hours straight!  Go Leighton!  She can hold her head up really well during tummy time and loves to practice standing with us helping her balance.  She still enjoys lights and light up toys.  Leighton loves being read to, songs and just being included in the conversation.  She talks to us a lot about her day and what she is thinking.  Leighton has started holding onto other things than our hands, such as rattles and my hair!  Needless to say, I've learned to pull it back and have stopped wearing fun dangly earrings.

We are totally in LOVE with this girl.  Everyday is such a great gift.

Leighton's Two Month Stats

Leighton weighed in at 13.1 pounds and 24 inches long.  Stuart took her to the appointment while I was at my new job orientation.  I was grateful because Leighton had four shots...no fun!  But she apparently handled it like a champ.  The doc told Stu for us to keep up the good work because she is one happy and healthy baby.  Go us!  Leighton is closing in on her third month but with no appointments this month we all will have to wait until month four for another update.

You are my sunshine!

Leighton is our sunshine!

We survived day care...

but not with out a few tears shed by dad after he left her.  Stuart is my hero for taking on the responsibility of daily drop off which means he was the one who had to leave her for the first time.  The center said he did a great job dropping off Leighton!  Go dad!  I on the other hand got to do the easy part, rescue her at the end of the day.  But rescuing she did not need.  She was taking a catnap when I arrived and looked very peaceful.  The owner went over and gently woke her up and picked her up.  Leighton smiled at her which made me feel even more comfortable.  Leighton seemed to have a great day.  They noted all the things they found she liked which are exactly the same things she likes to do at home.  We got an awesome and informative note from her teacher.  We are extremely pleased with the care she received and with the owner.  It makes us feel good that the center is owner operated.  She is very professional and caring.  Pats on the back to all the Browns for making it through this first day of transition for our family.  When Leighton and I arrived home, we snuggled up and she told me all about her day with her words of "oooh" and "aaah."

Leighton in the car about the leave for her first day of daycare!
